Voting Question: car will not accelerate nor start?

ok soo i was on my way to newport, ky on the double A highway and i was climbing a hill and i also was passing this car well i hit 70 rlly hard and all of a sudden my pedal wouldnt work anymore so i pull over put it in park and still it wont work. i shut it off went outside to check and see if something was wrong on the outside but nothing seemed wrong. there was no noise and no smoke. so i get back in the car and try to start it back up but now it wont start. well a month ago i found out i needed a new fuel pressure regulator since mine spikes up sometimes could it be that or could it be my fuel pump. 2002 ford focus mileage 160,000...
